About Me
Hello! My name is Natalia Cuevas. I was born and raised in north east Los Angeles and have been working in the LA fashion industry since 2008.
I began my career as a Technical Designer and Pattern Maker in 2012, at the time I worked on a sewing floor for a full package manufacturer. During that year, I had the opportunity to work as an apprentice Pattern Maker. I drafted patterns, led fittings, created tech packs and tracked all specs. Throughout my time at Clare V. I worked closely with design to develop the brand’s apparel department. I designed patterns for the core collection, tracked shrinkage formulas, created tech packs, and sole-handedly managed the production process. I have also worked for many years as a freelance pattern maker all based on client referrals. I was responsible for 1st through production patterns and providing final target specs. While working as the Production Manager at ADAPTATION I took a night class at LATTC to become certified in Gerber V9 with hopes to take my pattern skills to the next level. I was then offered the opportunity to work at REVOLVE as a Technical Designer, which I couldn’t pass up. I managed daily fittings and instructed all fit corrections. I also worked hard to unify the tech department, teaching my team how to spec garments and create concise fitting comments, which we then troubleshoot with overseas vendors.
As a technical designer, I have the opportunity to lead communication between development and production to ensure each silhouette represents design’s intention and is translated in mass production. But as a Patternmaker you are responsible for bringing an idea to life, making it tangible and beautiful. I have to say, I’m in love with that process and on a mission to be the best at it!
